Purpose

The American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) seeks to promote trade and investment ties, cultural exchanges and bonds of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Uzbekistan. In performing these functions, AUCC places primary emphasis on serving the needs and interests of its membership.

Partnerships

One of the greatest sources of strength for AUCC is its ability to work closely with a great number of other partner organizations. AUCC enjoys excellent working relations with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Washington, D.C., the Government of Uzbekistan, Uzbek companies and non-profit organizations, as well as elements of the American Government such as the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce. AUCC also coordinates its efforts in Washington, D.C. with a great number of business councils, associations and other non-profit and professional organizations.

Achievements

  • Hosted three major dinners for its member company CEOs with President Karimov (in March 2002 in Washington, D.C., in September 2000 in New York and in June 1996 in Washington, D.C.)
  • Worked successfully to help bring about such historic events in U.S.-Uzbekistan relations as the first meeting between two Presidents (Clinton-Karimov meeting of June 1996) and the first U.S. Congressional delegation to visit Uzbekistan (Chairman Archer Codel of May 1997)
  • Established a continuing series of annual conferences from May 1997 through to the present
  • Contributed to the early signing of a Bilateral Trade Agreement between the United States and the Republic of Uzbekistan
  • Supported cultural exchanges with Uzbekistan, including several visits to the United States by student prodigies from the Tashkent Conservatory
  • Has maintained since 1997 a series of program events annually in Washington, D.C., focused on the economic prospects of Uzbekistan and business opportunities in that country
  • Continues to advocate vigorously for the interests of U.S. business in Uzbekistan, building upon our strong ties to both the American and Uzbek Governments
  • Expanded knowledge of Uzbekistan in the United States through annual conferences, program events and travels throughout the United States to inform business audiences about the history, culture, economy and people of Uzbekistan.
