The law on "Combating corruption" entered into force in Uzbekistan.
The bill was submitted to the parliament on the initiative of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in October 2016.
The Legislative Chamber of the Parliament adopted the law in November 2016.

Abdusalom Azizov has been appointed to the post of interior minister upon Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's decree, a representative of the country's presidential administration told Trend January 4.
Before the appointment, Azizov worked as the head of the interior department in the country's Jizzakh region since 2010.
Adham Ahmadbayev, who has served as the country's interior minister since December 2013, was appointed state adviser to the president on work with law-enforcement agencies.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon invited his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev to come to Tajikistan on an official visit at a time convenient for him, the press service of the Uzbek government said in a message.
Emomali Rahmon made the invitation during a meeting with the Uzbek delegation, which took part in the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in the city of Dushanbe Dec. 27-28.

The Government of Uzbekistan was reshuffled after Abdulla Aripov was appointed as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
Aripov was appointed as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan on 14 December during the joint session of the Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
Achilbay Ramatov was appointed as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari - Head of Complex on the issues of complex development of territories and the municipal sphere, transport, capital construction and building industry.

Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved a law “On combating corruption”.
Interim President Shavkat Mirziyayev submitted the draft law to the Legislative Chamber as the legislative initiative in October 2016.
The document is directed at complex legislative regulation of legal relations in fighting corruption, improving efficiency of anti-corruption measures, conducted by the state bodies, organizations and institutes of civil society, as well as fully elimination of corruption from all spheres of public life, creating intolerance to corruption among public via improving legal awareness and legal culture.

Abdulla Aripov was approved as the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan during joint session of both chambers of the parliament on 14 December 2016.
Legislative Chamber and Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held a joint session on 14 December. During the session, President-elect of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was sworn in as the President and he assumed the office.

Uzbekistan will maintain the continuity and consistency in its foreign policy aimed at the protection and promotion of the country’s fundamental interests, said the Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov.
He was addressing the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Hamburg.
"Uzbekistan is a strong supporter of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and it supports resolving contradictions and conflicts only in a peaceful and political way,” said Kamilov.

Financial sector development must go beyond improving access to bank credit. Financial systems should develop in a balanced way through both bank and non-bank subsectors, including capital markets, the insurance sector, and other nonbank financial institutions to properly support inclusive growth in Europe and Central Asia, says a new World Bank report.
Risks and Returns: Managing Financial Trade-Offs for Inclusive Growth in Europe and Central Asia, launched today at the National Bank of Poland in Warsaw, notes that financial system in emerging countries in the Europe and Central Asia region is significantly less developed and less diversified than the financial system of their closest benchmark, Western Europe, and many of its middle-income peers.

Uzbekistan Airways has performed the charter flight to Dushanbe for the first time since 1992, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan reported.
The Tashkent — Dushanbe — Tashkent charter flight was carried out by the national airline on November 30.
The Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported that earlier the Uzbek and Tajik delegations held negotiations in Dushanbe on legal-organizational and economic aspects of further cooperation in the civil aviation sector.
