United States Donates $902,000 Worth of Laboratory Equipment and Supplies to Uzbekistan

On July 28, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) donated $902,000 worth of medical and laboratory equipment and supplies to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Health. The donated items will allow the country to conduct 25,000 COVID-19 tests, using advanced Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) equipment. This technology detects the presence of viral DNA, which is present in the body before a person is symptomatic, enabling public health authorities to isolate the patient very early and break the chain of transmission, vital to ending the pandemic. |read|

Uzbekistan, US may establish joint investment fund

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Adam Boehler, during which the prospects for cooperation in the context of strengthening bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and the United States were discussed, Trend reports with reference to Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan. American partners were invited to consider a package of 27 specific investment projects in agriculture, light industry, pharmaceuticals and building materials, said the ministry. Boehler expressed readiness to consider opportunities for participation in public-private partnership projects being implemented in Uzbekistan in solar and wind energy and transport sectors. |read|

US and Canada tour operators expect resumption of travel to Uzbekistan

As part of promoting a positive image of Uzbekistan and supporting tourist interest in the republic abroad, the Uzbek Embassy in the United States organized a briefing of the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Ulugbek Azamov for travel agencies in the United States and Canada. The briefing was attended by the leaders of the leading travel companies in the USA and Canada, who specialize in organizing tours of travelers to Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries, as well as representatives of cultural and humanitarian circles and the media. At the beginning of the event, the participants were informed about the pandemic situation in the country and the measures taken to normalize the epidemiological situation in the republic, as well as the work of the Government in preparing the entire complex of the necessary infrastructure of the country to accept foreign tourists. |read|
