The Silk Road Summit Conference takes place in USA
The III annual conference “The Silk Road summit” was held in the building of the US Senate, organized by the leading analytical institution of the USA “Center of Eurasia”, Dunyo reported.
The event was attended by over 70 representatives of official, business and diplomatic circles of the United States. The conference was devoted to the prospects for the development of economic, trade, transport and logistics relations between countries located along the historical route of the Great Silk Road, and the opening up opportunities for American business.
The speakers touched upon a wide range of issues of developing mutually beneficial partnerships and mutual integration of international transport corridors, improving logistics infrastructure, harmonizing international and domestic tariffs, as well as interacting with international financial institutions such as the World Bank, ADB and AIIB (Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investment) in implementing multilateral infrastructure projects.
At the conference, representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan made a presentation of the economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan and the transport and infrastructure projects implemented in the region. The event participants were informed in detail about the comprehensive transformations being carried out in our country to create a favorable business environment and measures to expand trade and economic ties in Central Asia. Uzbekistan’s efforts to integrate Afghanistan into regional economic processes through socio-economic recovery, development of the transport and energy infrastructure of this country are separately noted.
Central Asia has historically played a significant role in establishing trade relations between the countries of East and West. According to experts, the new regional policy of Uzbekistan contributes to the full revival of the economic potential of the Silk Road. The growing role of the country as an important transport and logistics hub, representing a promising market for American companies in the process of expanding the supply chain of their products, is noted.
The participants were particularly interested in the advantages of the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China automobile and railway lines, as well as the trans-Afghan corridor Kharaton-Mazar-e-Sharif-Herat for inter-regional transport integration.
Experts agreed on the need for more active involvement of American business in trade and investment processes in the vast expanse of the Great Silk Road.
