Uzbekistan intends to exempt several products from VAT

Uzbekistan plans to exempt VAT on imports and sales of cooking oil, meat and potatoes. The draft bill has been initiated by a group of legislators on the amendment to the present Tax Code.

According to the bill, the import and trade of sugar, its raw products will be exempted from value-added tax from October 15, 2020 to January 1, 2021.

In addition, it is expected to lift VAT on potatoes, cooking oil, meat (beef, lamb, chicken and others), and poultry import till July 1, 2021.

“The law will apply not only to the importers of products but also to entrepreneurs who trade these products on the domestic market,” Kusherbayev, the member of the legislative chamber said.

The MPs supported the bill and soon it will be presented at the plenary session of the Senate.
