5 June 2014

Germany's ThyssenKrupp is planning to participate in construction of chemical complex in Navoi region of Uzbekistan.

RIA Novosti reported that the German company expressed its readiness to participate in implementation of the project and detailed talks will be held in next several months.

Navoiazot announced a tender for construction of a complex on production of ammonia with the capacity of 900,000 tonnes and carbamine with the capacity of 1 million tonnes in May 2014. The project should be implemented in 38 months. It is planned to sum up results of tender in September, but it was extended till the end of 2013.

In January 2014, the tender was declared as abandoned due to high prices of tender proposals. In April 2014, the Government of Uzbekistan decided to attract investors to the project via direct talks.

The project with the cost of US$961.7 million will be financed due to foreign loans and resources of the Uzbek side.

Navoiazot is a largest chemical enterprise, which was launched in 1964.It produces nitric fertilizers, nitronic fibre and other products. Uzbekistan decreased production of carbamide by 6.5% in 2013 to 480,200 tonnes in 2013.
