The American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (AUCC) seeks to promote trade and investment ties, cultural exchanges and bonds of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Uzbekistan. In performing these functions, the AUCC places primary emphasis on serving the needs and interests of its members.

The country is rich in mineral and natural resources. Uzbekistan is one of the leading countries of the world with reserves of copper, silver, gold, lead, zinc, tungsten, natural gas and other minerals. As a result it can launch production of new types of goods requiring high levels of processing local natural and mineral resources.

Such industries and production areas as car production, agricultural machinery, biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry and advanced technologies have been further developed.

In 2007, with the participation of «General Motors», the Government created a joint venture «GM Uzbekistan» with a capacity of 250,000 cars per year of such brands as: Nexia, Damas and Lacetti, and the Epica, Tacuma and Captiva branded Chevrolet. In 2008, output amounted to more than 195,000 cars; in the current year it is planned to reach the design capacity of 250,000 cars.

In January 2007, «Isuzu Motors» signed an agreement for the production of 2 models of suburban-type buses and 3 models of trucks at the Samarkand automobile plant.

Uzbekistan is one of the few countries which have its own aircraft construction industry. It produces more than 10 modifications of cargo aircraft IL-76, wings for model "AN" heavy freight aircrafts, and control panel parts for ‘Boeing' and ‘British Aerospace'. Production of a new promising passenger aircraft model, turbo IL-114-100, has been launched with Russian experts.

Dozens of manufacturing enterprises producing excavators, tractors, towed and mounted agricultural machinery (harrows, plows, trailers, syringes and others) operate in the machine-building industry.

The telecommunication sector of Uzbekistan is one of the most attractive and quickly developing sectors. Cellular communication system is the most dynamic sphere of telecommunication. Currently 5 operators of cellular communication provide service to over 10.8 million telephone subscribers. The number of subscribers double each year. Telephony services, wireless network and Internet access through WiMAX technology are provided by EVO company, established with the participation of Sumitomo Corporation and Korea Telecom.
